Demo Walkthrough

The Steam demo for The Sinking City 2 covers roughly the first hour of Calvin Rafferty’s arrival in Arkham. This walkthrough explains where to go, how to solve mandatory puzzles, and how to conserve resources so you reach the floodgate finale without reloading constantly. It assumes you already read Getting Started for basic controls and safe-room mechanics.

Arrival and the first safe room

After the introductory cutscenes, follow the main street until you reach a bar interior and continue toward the bridge area. You will soon find a safe room with a gramophone, stash suitcase, and crafting table. Interact with the gramophone to create a manual save — do this every time you clear a new area.

Pick up readable notes on desks and pin them to the investigation board. Connecting the Gate Switchboard note with Gate Fuses and Wires grants a free talent point even though the puzzle can be solved without the link.

Apartment 6 safe code (optional loot)

Before or after your first combat encounter, you can enter Apartment 6 and find a locked safe. The code is the opening year of the nearby Radio Store: 1908. Inside are Dolorocide pills and handgun ammo. Opening the safe triggers additional enemies, so heal first and be ready to kite them back toward a choke point.

If you are low on health, skip the safe until after you craft healing items at a safe room.

First combat encounter: weak points

Your first mandatory fight teaches the weak-point loop. Enemies display glowing targets on limbs or torsos. Shoot the weak point to stagger the creature, then press the melee button to finish it without spending extra bullets. Panic-firing into the body wastes ammo you need for the floodgate area.

Dodge sideways when a monster winds up a lunge. The demo does not give you many healing items, so avoiding damage matters more than perfect accuracy.

Collecting electrical fuses

Story progression requires Electrical Fuses. You will pick them up after reading the To Martin note and interacting with objects in the cash-counter area. A short cutscene plays once you grab the fuses — save immediately afterward.

Return to the fuse box beside the floodgate switch on the main street. Insert the fuses to begin the alignment puzzle.

Floodgate fuse puzzle solution

The fuse box expects three fuses placed in specific slots. The correct layout (left to right) matches the schematic scratched near the mechanism:

  • Slot 1: short fuse on the upper rail
  • Slot 2: medium fuse bridging the center gap
  • Slot 3: long fuse on the lower rail completing the circuit

If the gate does not move, remove all fuses and reseat them while watching the indicator lights on the panel. Once aligned, crank the nearby wheels in order: interact with the second crank first, then return to the first crank to open the path toward the library restricted section.

Library descent and demo ending

The lower library floor collapses during a set-piece fall. Fight or dodge the spawning enemies, then climb back to the upper slope. The demo ends shortly after you reach the restricted section doorway — there is no boss fight in the public slice, but ammo conservation still determines how comfortably you finish.

Optional collectibles checklist

  • Investigation notes on the gate mechanism
  • Healing herbs in a cabinet past the bar
  • Codex entry on a table near the library stairs
  • Emergency Relief Crate if you backtrack before the fuse quest

Marking rooms blue on the map confirms you cleared loot. Red rooms still hide items or notes.
